PLAY
Poetry submitted by Ibrahim Oga
carrot and stick, riding on life’s cart.
pride and shame, an unceremonious entanglement.
dopamine and adrenaline, then some drought.
a lottery, a slot machine, and whatever has huge reward
with needle-in-a-haystack odd.
magic, not magical, makes burdened and unburdened hearts
no math to it, indiscriminate, haphazard, uncanny,
hits where it tragically count, hits with an inevitability to make your heaven,
always a reason to play.
life’s greatest trick is Love.
