Corner By The River

What had I seen in the water

when I gazed outside for so long

that you reached for the camera?

Was it birds playing tag with ripples

while the sun kissed its last rays

onto the glittering surface,

just as it does in your eyes?

You transform before me

each day, the green and gold

in you becoming brown

like hot springs

merging with earth.

my home my home my home

I wade through your waves each morning,

then bury my feet in your firmness

as the sun sets on us.

This corner by the river is where

you immortalize my image

and I, yours.
