Malawi

I come from a land
Where a giant serpent moves under the earth
Causing floods and landslides
A land where the footprints of God and the first men
Are inscribed on a mountain
When they descended from heaven
A land with a forbidden peak
That you can never escape from
Though it dares all mountain climbers
A place of rainmakers and ancestors that dance in our midst
I come from a dream; I come from Malawi.
