Tears of a Rose

Tears of a rose

swallowed in the guise of her coming to

her blossoming

surrounded  by thorns

and the prickling heat

The glistening dew, her silent companion

hides her tears and offers refuge

until the sun is due

when all the fly traps come alive

and behold the jaws of death
