Give Me Water To Drink

Give me water to drink

Let me quench my thirst

before I die.

Give me water to drink

Let me taste it with my tongue

On behalf of those who will never know

the feel of water in their mouth.

Give me water to drink

Nevermind, pour it on my head

Baptize me with your charity

Let it cleanse me of my ungratefulness,

the way I feel each time i ask you for water.

What is in this water you give me

I don’t think this water likes the black man

Each time you give me to drink it drowns me from inside out.

It leaves me no choice but to ask you to give me water to drink.

So fair man, come

Go to my well, fetch it, bring it and give me water to drink.
